330-Hour Vermont​ Practitioner Five-Module Program

for Bodywork Therapists

Students may choose to take Module One for 30 CEU credits. Level One is a pre-requisite for Level Two and beyond to complete the 330-hour Shiatsu Certification Program.​​ See course descriptions below.

5. Module Five

Observed Clinical Practice- 75 Hours

​Instructors supervise students in a professional clinic setting. Students review clients' health history chart and conduct a 10-minute Intake Interview to determine the client's health goals, reason for seeking Shiatsu, and current health issues.  Students will then diagnose the Abdomen and, based on all the information, design a 45-minute Shiatsu treatment to address the specific needs and goals of that client.

1. Module One : 30 Hours

• The Twelve Meridians

• Points and Lines - Palm, Finger, and Thumb Techniques

• Meditation & Qigong

Students will learn to apply palming, finger and thumb pressure, as well as elbows and knees to treat all twelve energy channels. They will be able to give treatments that will improve functionality in the Lungs, Large Intestine, Bladder, Kidneys, Liver, Gall Bladder, Heart, Small Intestine, Triple Burner, Heart Protector, Spleen, and Stomach. They will learn the basics of Zen Touch through meditation, Qigong, and Taoist Microcosmic Orbit practice.

• Chinese Six Phases Theory I

​​• Zen Shiatsu Theory and Treatment II

• Qualities of Touch: Releasing the Muscles and Tendons

• Abdominal Diagnosis II - Kyo Jitsu Reaction

• Quantum Shiatsu I

• Meditation & Qigong 

This course includes 30 hours of Six Phases Theory, designed by one of our teachers to fit the Zen Shiatsu Bodywork Model. Students will learn to observe the Kyo Jitsu Reaction in Abdominal Diagnosis, a technique that confirms a diagnosis. As students become accustomed to meditation and qigong they will learn to apply their inner and outer spatial awareness to enhance their touch. This is the beginning of Quantum Shiatsu practice. Students will learn to use their spatial awareness to release tension on the muscle-tendon layer.

 Qualities of Touch: Reaching the Organ Level

This course includes 30 hours of Five Element Theory, basic Abdominal Diagnosis, and Zen Shiatsu Kyo & Jitsu Technique. Students will explore touch that affects the outer muscle and tendon layer as well as touch that resonates with the inner organs. Students will learn techniques such rotations and stretches, including Thai Massage techniques, to align and open the joints and the spinal column.

​​This course continues with an additional 30 hours of Chinese Medical Theory with applied Abdominal Diagnosis and Clinical Reasoning. Theory and Practice begin to come together. Students will practice among themselves the process of interviewing clients, assessing them, and planning a 45-minute shiatsu session that would be the optimal treatment for that client at that time.

Free Intro Course  (Optional)


Students will experience the difference between working on the outer muscle layer of the body and working deeper at the organ level. Students will learn a 30-minute back treatment on the Bladder Meridian, which  helps align the back and balance the para-sympathetic nervous system to promote a state of healing.
